Devour the Word!
“Let this mind be in you which was also in Messiah Jesus”
Philippians 2:5

A few weeks ago I had a brief vision. In it, I saw myself ravenously consuming large sheets paper!  No sooner than I began thinking about what I'd just seen, I heard the phrase "Devour the Word."  It was a word for me. But this morning I was encouraged to share it with you.  So I urge you to Devour the Word of God!  "Eat" it as if your life depends on it!

The word "devour" has several meanings but as it pertains to this message, it clearly means:

1. to eat up greedily;  2. to engulf or swallow up;  3. Read (something) eagerly

4. to enjoy avidly  (merriam-webster.com ; dictionary.com)

Many of us already know that what we eat or put in our physical bodies becomes a part of us; our blood, our veins, muscle tissue, brain, etc.  And the more we eat of "it," the more our body will reveal or reflect "it"!  If we continually eat healthy, our bodies will be healthy.  If we continually eat unhealthy...well we all know how that turns out!   It's no different with our soul or our spirit man!

So if you truly want to be transformed by the renewing of your mind... "Devour the Word!"  If you wholeheartedly want to have the mind of the Messiah... "Devour the Word!"If you honestly desire to walk in the Spirit and not after the flesh... "Devour the Word!"And if you earnestly want your affections to be set on things above and not on things of this earth, this world, this cosmos... "Devour the Word!"

"The Word of our Father is alive!  It is at work and is sharper than any double edge sword - it cuts right through to where the soul meets the spirit and joints meet the marrow, and it is quick to judge the inner reflections and attitudes of the heart. Before God, nothing created is hidden, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must render an account." Hebrews 4:12-13

Saints of the Most High God... Let us, the Body of the Messiah, "Devour the Word" of our Father that has been so graciously given to us. What a healthy Body we will be!
